Bangladesh never defeated Pakistan in Tests before, although they had beaten Australia, England, New Zealand, West Indies and Zimbabwe at home.

Notably, Bangladesh won a Test in Pakistan in 2024, but this was the first time the Tigers defeated Pakistan in a Test on home soil. In the final evening, Nahid Rana’s destruction crushed Pakistan.
After setting a target of 268 runs in the Mirpur Test, Bangladesh bowled Pakistan out for 163 runs through Nahid Rana, Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam. As a result, Bangladesh secured a historic 104-run victory. This was their third consecutive Test win against Pakistan. Nahid Rana also took the second fifer of his Test career.
Will Bangladesh win the Mirpur Test? After setting a target of 268 runs, this was the only question among the fans and supporters. In the final evening at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh’s bowlers started answering the supporters’ hopes.

Especially Nahid Rana. Through the fiery bowling of Bangladesh’s pace star, Pakistan’s 2 experienced batters Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan, then Noman Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi returned one after another, and Bangladesh’s cricketers celebrated victory.

Pakistan went to tea on the fifth day at 116 runs for 3 wickets while chasing 268 runs in the Mirpur Test. They still had 7 wickets in hand. Everyone assumed the Test was heading towards a draw. But anyone who did not watch the Mirpur Test would perhaps never believe that Test cricket, the glorious game of uncertainty, could completely change the colour of a match in just one session.
Pakistan needed 152 runs in the final session, while Bangladesh needed 7 wickets. Bangladesh moved ahead in this battle. Nahid Rana took 4 wickets in the final session. The remaining 3 wickets were shared by Taijul and Taskin Ahmed.

Bangladesh created a great chance of victory by taking 2 wickets at the start of the third or final session. After the break, Taijul Islam trapped set batter Abdullah Fazal (66) lbw on the fifth ball. In the next over, Salman Agha (26) gave a catch at gully off Taskin Ahmed. Pakistan lost 5 wickets for 121 runs.

Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan tried to build resistance with a 31-run partnership for the sixth wicket. This experienced pair was Pakistan’s main hope in batting. Nahid Rana hammered the main nail into Pakistan’s coffin by dismissing these 2 experienced batters within a gap of just 1 run in the 44th and 46th overs. These 2 experienced batters returned consecutively at 152 and 153 runs.
Then at 154 runs, Taijul Islam made the path easier by trapping Hasan Ali lbw as the eighth wicket. The next 2 batters only increased Bangladesh’s wait for victory. Nahid Rana trapped Noman Ali lbw as the ninth batter. Finally, he forced Shaheen Shah Afridi to give a catch to Mahmudul Hasan Joy.

On the fifth day of the Dhaka Test, Bangladesh declared their second innings at 240 runs for 9 wickets. They took a lead of 267 runs. That meant Pakistan needed 268 runs to win.

Pakistan suffered an early blow while chasing the target. A brilliant delivery from Taskin Ahmed edged Imam-ul-Haq’s (2) bat and went into the gloves of wicketkeeper Liton Das. Pakistan lost their first wicket at 3 runs. They went to lunch at 6 runs.

After the break, Mehedi Hasan Miraz bowled first-innings centurion Azan Awaiz (15). Pakistan lost their second wicket at 57 runs.
Then Nahid Rana did not allow Pakistan captain Shan Masood to settle. Masood (2) edged the ball behind the wickets off Nahid Rana’s fierce pace. Pakistan lost 3 wickets at 68 runs.

Earlier, Bangladesh started the fifth morning with 152 runs after losing 3 wickets on the fourth day. Their lead was 179 runs. From there, Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s team extended the lead to 267 runs.

Bangladesh needed aggressive batting on the final day to win this Test. The start on the fifth and final day was exactly like that. However, Mushfiqur Rahim could not make the innings bigger.
Trying to hit Hasan Ali, he gave a catch at mid-off and returned for 22 runs. Liton Das also failed. He got out for 11 runs while trying to play a big shot. Liton was caught at the boundary off Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto missed the chance to become the first Bangladeshi to score centuries in both innings of a Test for the third time in his career. He missed the rare record by 13 runs.

Trying to play a reverse sweep against Noman Ali’s spin, Shanto missed the line of the ball and became lbw. His innings stopped at 87 runs from 150 balls with 7 boundaries. In the first innings, Shanto scored 101 runs. Later, Mehedi Hasan Miraz got out after scoring 24 runs from 27 balls. After that, Bangladesh could not add many more runs.

Pakistan’s Hasan Ali and Noman Ali took 2 wickets each in the second innings. In the first innings of the Test, Bangladesh were all out for 413 runs after losing the toss and batting first. In reply, Pakistan scored 386 runs. Bangladesh had taken a lead of 27 runs.#newsone24 #cricket #Bangladesh #won #Pakistan
