To make travel easier for people returning home during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh Railway has started selling advance train tickets.

From 8 AM on Wednesday (May 13), passengers were able to collect tickets for trains operating in the western region, while ticket sales for eastern region trains began at 2 PM.

Notably, to prevent ticket black marketing, railway authorities have once again decided to sell all seat tickets only through online platforms.

Railway authorities said passengers can collect tickets for May 23 journeys through the designated website and the ‘Rail Sheba’ app. According to the railway’s Eid operational plan, the ticket sale schedule for the following days has also been fixed. Tickets for May 24 will be available on May 14, tickets for May 25 on May 15, tickets for May 26 on May 16, and tickets for May 27 on May 17. However, ticket sales for May 28 to May 30 will fully depend on moon sighting.

Several specific rules have been imposed for ticket purchases. A passenger can buy a maximum of four tickets in a single transaction. These advance journey tickets will not be refundable under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, for passengers who fail to get online tickets, 25 percent of the total seats will be sold as standing tickets (excluding upper-class coaches) from station counters on the day of travel.
