Shocking details in US killing of 2 Bangladeshi students

A series of shocking information is emerging surrounding US citizen Hisham Abugarbiyeh, who was arrested in the brutal killing of two Bangladeshi students, Jamil Limon and Nahida Sultana Brishti, who were studying at the University of South Florida (USF) in the United States.

The 26-year-old US citizen Hisham Abugarbiyeh has been identified by police as a serial offender. He was Limon’s former roommate and had previous allegations of violence and domestic abuse against him.

According to the latest information, DNA samples collected from Hisham’s house matched with Nahida Brishti, which confirmed her death and made the severity of the incident clearer.

Investigators said his arrest was highly tense. When police went to his house north of Tampa city after receiving a complaint of domestic violence, he barricaded himself inside with weapons. A specially trained police team was deployed to control the situation. After a long resistance, he eventually surrendered.

Information from Hillsborough County court and sheriff’s office said Hisham was a former student of the same university. Although he studied management from 2021 to 2023, he was not a student at the time of arrest. Court documents mention that he was charged with physical assault and theft in May and September 2023. Even his family members sought protection in court due to his violent behavior.

After arrest, he has been charged with serious offences including concealing death information, illegally moving a dead body, destroying evidence, and planned violence. He is being intensively interrogated after the dismembered body of Jamil Limon was recovered from under a bridge and evidence of Brishti’s death was confirmed.

Zahid Hasan Pranto, brother of victim Nahida Brishti, said the blood samples found at Hisham’s house matched with his sister. Although it is still uncertain whether the full body will be recovered, it is believed that the double murder was carried out in a highly planned manner.

Currently, charge sheet preparation in the murder case against Hisham, who is in Hillsborough County custody, is ongoing. The authorities are working to ensure maximum punishment by analyzing the full autopsy report and his past criminal records.
