El Clásico victory was enough to confirm the league title for FC Barcelona, and the Catalans looked fully prepared to turn the match into a championship celebration. The 2-0 result proved exactly that.
Barcelona secured their 29th La Liga title by beating Real Madrid CF 2-0. Hansi Flick’s side moved to 91 points from 35 matches, 14 points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid. With only three matches remaining, Madrid no longer had any chance to close the gap. Barcelona won the league while maintaining dominance throughout the season, losing only four matches.
Real Madrid had no alternative but to win the El Clasico to keep their title hopes alive. However, that dream suffered an early blow when Marcus Rashford scored for Barcelona in the 9th minute.
He scored a stunning goal. After Antonio Rüdiger committed a foul just outside the box, Barcelona earned a free-kick. Rashford curled a brilliant shot into the net, leaving Thibaut Courtois with no chance to stop it.
Barcelona doubled their lead in the 18th minute through Ferran Torres. Fermín López delivered a cross before Dani Olmo produced a clever backheel. Torres then fired a powerful shot into the net.
With this victory, Hansi Flick won La Liga for the second consecutive time. In his first season last year, he guided Barcelona to a domestic double by winning both La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
Both teams missed several key players in the match. Barcelona’s starting lineup did not include Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Jules Koundé.
Real Madrid faced even more problems, with Éder Militão, Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy, Arda Güler and Rodrygo all unavailable. Midfielder Federico Valverde also missed the match after suffering a head injury during an altercation with teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni in the dressing room earlier in the week.
Due to injury, Kylian Mbappé did not travel with the squad. As a result, coach Álvaro Arbeloa started academy striker Gonzalo alongside Vinícius Júnior in attack. Vinicius and Gonzalo created a few opportunities before halftime, but Barcelona remained the more dangerous side. Courtois made several excellent saves to prevent a heavier defeat.
Barcelona continued attacking in the second half. In the 62nd minute, a goal from Jude Bellingham was ruled out for offside. Later, goalkeeper Joan García denied a solo effort from Vinicius.
Although Real Madrid pushed forward late in the match, they lacked sharpness in attack. Barcelona players began celebrating the title immediately after the final whistle.
