Limon body return, Brishti janaza 6 May

The body of Bangladeshi student Jamil Ahmed Limon, who was killed in a murder in Florida in the United States, has arrived in the country. The government said the process to bring back the body of another student, Nahida Sultana Brishti, who was killed in the same incident, is ongoing.

Limon’s body arrived in the country on Monday (May 4) at 8:40 am Bangladesh time. At Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam received the body on behalf of the government and handed it over to the victim’s family. At that time, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment provided necessary support.

While handing over the body, the state minister said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in regular communication with the United States government to ensure proper investigation and justice of the murder. She expressed hope that those responsible will be brought under the law.

She also said the government is standing beside the families of the victims and all necessary support will be provided according to the Prime Minister’s instruction.

Earlier, on May 2, Limon’s body was sent to the country from Orlando International Airport in Florida. At that time, officials of the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami supervised the process of sending the body. On April 30, his janaza was held at the Istaba Islamic Society of Tampa Bay Area mosque in Tampa.

Meanwhile, the process to bring back the body of another Bangladeshi student Nahida Sultana Brishti, who was killed in the same incident, is ongoing. On May 1, the Hillsborough County Sheriff Office confirmed the identification of her body.

After that, the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami took initiative to send the body to the country with the consent of the family. Currently, her body is at a funeral home and the process to send it to the country is ongoing.

It is known that on May 6, her janaza will be held with the participation of local expatriate Bangladeshis. The next day, May 7, efforts are ongoing to book a flight to send her body to the country. In this regard, the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami and the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington are working together.
